KIDS SENIOR CLASS

Please note the next senior kids class for yellow belts and above will take place on Monday May 9th. The senior kids class will take place the first Monday of every month.

SELF DEFENSE COURSE

Those of you that went to the self defense couse held by Sifu De Silva will be glad to know that there is another course planned for later on in the year.It is a great opportunity for those of you who did not get the chance to go to train at the class, to train with an expert in self defense and one of the head door men at a number of the top London clubs. Please watch this space for further details.

NEW KIDS CLASS!

There is now an extra session on the first Monday of every month 7-8pm. This is open to yellow belts and above only. This will be a more senior session for those Kids who have been training for 6 months and over.

DAI SI GUNG QUEK

Unfortunately Dai Si Gung (Great Grandmaster) Quek passed away in 2010. He will be very much missed by all who had the pleasure to train with him. Nam Pai Chuan organised a trip to Malaysia and New Zealand in 2007 and again to Malaysia in 2008 to train with Dai Si Gung Quek and other Seniors. The trips were a once in a life time experience. In 2009 the Dai Si Gung Quek course was held in London and this was the first time Dai Si Gung Quek had been to the UK. It proved extremely popular and was a great success. NPC DOMINATES BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Nam Pai Chuan system dominated the BCCMA (British Council of Chinese Martial Arts) Championships with 3 golds, 5 slivers and 4 bronze medals. Our very own Joseph Winter won a silver medal at the event and Graham Robertson who also trained at the club won a silver in his category. There is a sparring school of excellence that runs once a month in Chiswick London. Please ask Sifu Pace for more details.

NPC COMPETITION SUCCESS!

Cardiff Central did themselves proud at the NPC Competition 2008 with 1 x gold medal, 2 x silver medals and 1 x bronze medal. The event was a tremendous success with radio and media coverage and a large spectator attendance (Please see Martial Arts Illustrated magazine February edition for a full report). Gold was achieved by Joshua Lewis in the under 17 sparring event, silver went to Jack Ellis in the black belt team sparring, silver to Joseph Winter in the weapons and bronze to Lee Bennet in the forms event. With the club being less than three years old and one of the youngest clubs in the system this is a great achievement. As a spin off from the event the system is setting up a sparring school of excellence in which anyone training at the club can go on to fight in external competitions with the first ones being the BCCMA competitions in 2009. Training sessions for the sparring school of excellence will be held in Chiswick London once a month. please speak to Sifu Pace if you wish to attend. KIDS KUNG FU CLASS!

After many requests we have now decided to run a kids kung fu class. These run every Thursday 7-8pm in the Dance Studio. Classes are for children from the ages of 5 to 14 and are run by our experienced black belt instructors. The main instructor for this class will be Jack Ellis who is CRB certified. The classes will be set in a fun environment and will be a great way for children to get exercise as well as learning new skills. The chief Instructor Ryan Pace (CRB certified) started in such a class when he was just 8 years old and has been training for over 20 years. NPC WALES WEAPONS CLASS

The first thursday of each month will be a weapons training session. The classes will be held in the Dance Studio 8pm-10pm. These sessions are open to all students and no previous experience is required. There are 18 traditional weapons used in Nam Pai Chuan with beginners starting off with the staff. If you have a staff, please feel free to bring it along. If you do not have a staff, a staff will be provided on the day.

SYLLABUS DVD's

The new system syllabus dvd's, performed by Sifu Lai and other Seniors of the system are now available for sale. They are split up into 6 volumes according to grades from white belt to 2nd degree black belt and contain the entire syllabus for each respective grade. Volume 1 contains material for the 9th to 7th grade (i.e white belt to 2nd yellow belt). Volume 2 contains material for the 6th to 4th grade (i.e. 1st green to 1st blue belt). Volume 3 contains material for the 3rd and 2nd grade (2nd blue to 1st brown). Volume 4 contains material for the 1st grade (2nd brown to black belt). Volume 5 contains material for 1st degree to 2nd degree blackbelt. Volume 6 contains material for 2nd degree to 3rd degree blackbelt. You can only purchase a volume relevant to your current grade or earlier. Please contact a member of the committee if you're interested.
